I grew up in a region of the country known for their Mexican food, yet I found what is possibly the best Mexican food I've ever had in rural Wisconsin. I had their pork tinga, which was so amazing. Soooooo amazing. Standard service, standard decor, standard tex mex menu, INCREDIBLE food. Incredible.

I wish I could give higher rating, I was disappointed. Multiple children were absolutely screaming from the moment we walked in, I don't know if it was kids eat free night. We were seated exactly next to the children when there were clearly several other spots available. Our food came out fast, though it is what actually earned them 3/5 stars. It was hot and made as described on the menu but my shrimp were bland, no seasoning and there was an unnecessary amount of white cheese whiz on top. The same happened with my mothers beef tacos, they tasted like absolute ground beef in shells. No cumin, nothing. If I traveled through again I might try them, but I'd order something different.

I was disappointed in the chips as they were stale. The salsa was very good, as always. I had the el Pastor plate and it was very good. The service is quick but a strange environment. I have never had a sit down meal and had less than 20 words spoken to me. I walked in to "How Many" and nothing after that. I was escorted to my booth in silence. The first person walked past me and simply said "Drink?" and I gave my order. I received my drink and chips and salsa in silence. I then had my waiter come up and ask "Are you ready to order? followed by "Flour or corn?" No small talk or asking how I was. Next my food was delivered in silence. No one asked if I needed anything or how my meal was. My waiter returned with my check and said "have a nice night, thank you". That's seventeen (17) words total!

It's been, at the minimum, at least six years since I've eaten here and the waiter remembered me. 5 stars. A few caveats, this is five stars for Mexican food in northern Wisconsin. They're taking tex mex and catering it to the Northern European palette (ie large portions, lots of cheese, and very little spice.) All things considered, they're doing what they do well. I'd recommend the fajitas or the tinga. Tinga is a slow cooked spiced pork dish served with refried beans and rice. The chips appear to be homemade and the salsa is very mild but they do have a spicier chile de arbol sauce upon request. Service is great, food comes quickly, and a little Spanish will earn you serious bonus points. You can do sit down or take out. I'd recommend eating in as the decor is pretty cool, the booths are all hand carved with artwork. My booth had a Diego Rivera-esque carving (ala flower seller), which was neat.

Nice little place. Good prices. Authentic Mexican. Husband had a pork dish that tasted like it was cooking all day. Yummmm! Looks like there were some big groups there for dinner.

Great place for our large family in town for a funeral. We were turned down at another location in Spooner because there were 25 of us and Casa Mexicana welcomed our group and took very good care of us. The food and service was great!

Standard tex-mex. Fast service. To go orders come with chips and salsa. Sometimes meat is too salty. I like the beans and red sauce. Queso dip and guac. are yum.

Seems like a staple in Rice Lake based on the awkward/ overcrowded parking lot and large groups of co-workers coming in for lunch on a cold weekday. Great taquitos, typical Americanized Mexican food. Kitschy decor and friendly, mainly male staff.

My grandfather and I went there. When we went, our salsa was runny. Could be more chunky. We had to be careful not to get it on our clothes and all over the table when trying to get the chips in our mouths. My order was great, but my grandpa ordered a taco salad and it isn't served with anything. No guacamole, no sour cream, no salsa. That should definitely change. My beef chimichanga was delicious. I guess it just depends on what you order. Nice atmosphere.

Far and away the best place to eat in Rice Lake. Great service and food. They could charge double in a metropolitan city. Y'all are lucky to have this place in your town.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
